Business Operations Coordinator

Job Summary

The Genesee County Chamber of Commerce seeks a full-time Business Operations Coordinator, who is team-oriented and seeks opportunities to assist our entire organization while supporting operations and financial management that strengthen our local business community and advance tourism.

Position Overview

The Business Operations Coordinator provides comprehensive operational, financial, and administrative support across Chamber, Tourism, and BEA programs. The role requires sound judgment, attention to detail, initiative, and the ability to manage multiple priorities with professionalism and confidentiality.

 Working closely with leadership and staff, this role helps ensure efficient operations while contributing to the community’s economic vitality.

Key Responsibilities

Operations & Administration

  • Provide daily operational support for Chamber programs, events, and membership services.
  • Coordinate communications, registrations, revenue collection, and general office operations.
  • Support technology, building operations, equipment maintenance, and vendor coordination.

 Financial Management

  • Manage membership billing, accounts receivable, deposits, and accounts payable.
  • Maintain accurate financial records using QuickBooks and Database Software.
  • Prepare income and expense reports and monitor departmental spending.
  • Reconcile bank accounts and assist with audit preparation and internal controls.

 Human Resources Support

  • Coordinate payroll, timekeeping, and employee benefits administration (including SIMPLE IRA).
  • Support recruitment, hiring processes, and special HR-related projects.

Qualifications

  • Required Skills & Abilities

    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft O365, QuickBooks, and Windows-based software; database experience.
    • Ability to manage confidential information with integrity and professionalism.

     Preferred Qualifications

    • Experience in business operations, bookkeeping, or event programming.
    • Associate degree in business, accounting, or related field and/or (5)+ years of relevant experience.

Compensation

  • Full-time; hourly, non-exempt (Mon-Friday 8:30am - 4:30pm; occasional evenings/weekends).
  • Salary Range: $21–$24/hour ($45,000–$50,000 annually)
  • Paid holidays, vacation, SIMPLE IRA match, health insurance contribution, and flexible scheduling.
