Why **“Genean” you ask?** Well, simply put, we decided that we needed to have our own unique awards (like the Oscars or Tony awards) for GENesee and OrlEANs counties, an initiative recognizing outstanding individuals and organizations in Genesee and Orleans counties who have made significant contributions to the arts and culture of our region. **So there you have it! Genean it is!** **Organization of the Year** – Recognizing a not-for-profit or for-profit arts organization for its accomplishments and impact in 2025. **Individual Artist of the Year** – Honoring an artist in any discipline for their achievements in 2025 or a career-long body of work. **Supporter (of the Cultural Sector) of the Year** – Celebrating an individual or organization outside of the arts and cultural sector whose work has directly aided the local arts and culture community. **Lifetime Achievement Award** – Honoring an artist in any discipline for their career-long body of work **Volunteer of the Year Award** – Honoring an individual who has put in countless hours helping make art and culture happen in Genesee and Orleans Counties
