Grant Requirements:

• Grant Awards will be a minimum of $5,000 with a maximum of $35,000
• Grants CAN be used to fund machinery, equipment, furnishing, fixtures, and inventory
• Grants CAN NOT be used for construction, renovations, leasehold improvements, or demolition
• A ten percent (10%) equity contribution by the business is required
• The business can be any legal form of business (partnership, corporation, limited liability company, etc.)
• Non-profit organizations are NOT eligible to participate
• Be owned by a low- or moderate-income individual, or Use the grant to create at least one full-time equivalent job for a low- or moderate-income person (documentation must be provided proving the job was created before receiving funds)
• Must be located in the City of Batavia
•  Must complete an entrepreneurship training course provided through the Brockport SBDC or Niagara SBDC before receiving any grant funding Grant Applicants
• must submit an acceptable business plan, including appropriate financial information Grant recipients
• must submit financial statements to the BDC every quarter.
• They must also meet with BDC staff six months and twelve months after receiving the grant to discuss their business operations and financial status.
• Businesses receiving a grant must continue operating within the City of Batavia for at least 12 months after the grant is awarded. If a business closes or relocates before that time, it must repay the grant.
• Grant recipients will be responsible for paying BDC’s costs associated with closing the grant, including BDC’s attorney’s fees and filing fees. These costs may not be paid or reimbursed from the grant.
