Key Responsibilities

  • The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Nutrition Education and Obesity Prevention (SNAP) Nutritionist will primarily be responsible for delivery of established SNAP public education programming to improve healthy food and lifestyle choices among families and individuals encompassing all age groups throughout the Northwestern SNAP Region (Genesee, Erie, and Niagara) specifically focusing on Genesee County.
  • This position will also assist with marketing efforts for SNAP programming in collaboration with other nutritionists in the SNAP region. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, Community and Behavioral Health, Health Education and/or Public Health, or Nursing. Associate’s degree plus 2 years transferrable program/functional experience may substitute.
    • Experience Relevant to the role of the position.
    • Ability to clearly communicate (speak, read, and write proficiently) in English.
    • Ability to meet travel requirements associated with this position.
    • Ability to work flexible hours, which may include evenings and/or weekends, as appropriate.
    • Ability and willingness to work with diverse audiences and maintain cultural sensitivity.
    • Proficiency with windows-based software including use of the internet and Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
    • Ability to use technology to teach virtual education.
    • Ability to communicate effectively, clearly, and tactfully through verbal, written and electronic methods.
    • Ability and willingness to work with a high degree of integrity, accuracy, organization, sound professional judgment, and the ability to handle confidential, sensitive information.
    • Ability to organize, manage, and prioritize multiple tasks, deadlines, requirements, and priorities to complete work in a timely manner and within established deadlines.
    • Ability to work in a typical office environment which may include lifting, moving, and/or transporting office supplies, work related materials, and equipment with or without accommodation. Additional Information

  • This is a 1.0 FTE grant-funded position. Funding for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) program is through the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and administered by the Office of Temporary Disability and Assistance (OTDA). This is a temporary position June 2nd, 2025, through August 22nd, 2025. Position will not exceed one year of employment.

Wage Information:

  • $ 20.55 per hour
  • Location:  Batavia, NY  (Remote work is not available)
