pellegrino auto

Business of The Year:

Pellegrino Auto Sales

Started in 2005, Pellegrino Auto Sales had humble beginnings in the car dealership business. They had 3 full time employees and sold around 150 cars a year out of a 4,000 sq ft building. 15 years later, still in its original location in Batavia, Pellegrino Auto sales currently has 15 full time employees, selling over 1,000 vehicles per year out of an 8,000 sq ft facility that now includes a full-service repair, body and detail shop!

Along with that tremendous growth, home-town guy, Guy Pellegrino, has made a name for himself as a tremendous supporter of the local community. He generously donates to many organizations including the Michael Napoleone Foundation, Crossroads House and many different sports and theatre productions in Genesee County.

The Genesee County Chamber commends Pellegrino Auto Sales for its tremendous growth and years of community service. We are pleased to announce and honor them as the 2020 Business of the Year.

l&M spec fab

Agricultural Business of The Year:

L&M Specialty Fabrication

Established in 2017, L&M Specialty Fabrication is a spectacular example of young entrepreneurship in Genesee County. Co-Founders Lee Shuknecht, Matt Geissler and Sarah Geissler, took the leap in 2018 and invested in a 2.2 million dollar facility in the heart of their market, Batavia NY.

Being in the agricultural market, they fabricate and repair used farm equipment for a variety of customers across Genesee, Orleans and Wyoming Counties. They are most well known for their TurboTop Onion Harvester (very popular in Elba). However, their business is all about innovation and most clients come to them with a unique problem that L&M is asked to engineer a solution for.

The Genesee County Chamber commends L&M Specialty Fabrication for its business savvy creativity in the Agriculture Industry and its commitment to growing locally in Genesee County NY. We are pleased to announce and honor them as the 2020 Agricultural Business of the Year.

Special Service Recognition:

United Memorial Medical Center

The past year of uncertainty and unease in the face of the Covid-19 Pandemic has been been something that has weighed on the shoulders of everyone in Genesee County and across the world. Every day, at a time when most didn’t leave their house, the staff at UMMC went to work and ensured we as a community had what we needed during an unprecedented time.

These “Healthcare Heroes” did their jobs despite the odds and overwhelming fear they were faced with every day. They set up drive thru testing stations, cared for sick patients, and now are moving forward with providing vaccines to the residents of this community. They are heroes in our book and we cannot thank them enough for the sacrifice and resiliency they have shown throughout this entire ordeal.

The Genesee County Chamber is proud to honor United Memorial Medical Center and all its employees by recognizing them as the 2020 Special Service Recognition.

Geneseean of The Year:

Tammy Hathaway, Executive Director, United Way of Genesee County

The following is taken from a submission by David Cecere:

“I have had the pleasure of working with Tammy for over 15 years in different capacities, helping and serving the less fortunate people and families of Genesee County. Tammy is the most selfless individual I have met in my life. Her endless energy and smile are the most contagious and inviting characteristic of anyone I know.

I have never heard her decline an offer to assist someone or another organization. In addition to her role as Executive Director of The Genesee County United Way, she can be found packing backpacks for the ARC for Hungry Children, helping coordinate events for GO-ART, and volunteering at The Salvation Army.

She is the type of person that makes us all better every minute we get to spend with her. You will never hear her complain or decline a request. She doesn’t judge others and welcome all that are willing to give- whether it be one dollar or one thousand dollars. Overall, she is a beautiful human being and deserves this recognition!”

The Genesee County Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce Tammy Hathaway, Executive Director of The United Way of Genesee County, as its 2020 Geneseean of The Year.
